The town of Biograd

Biograd as a croatian town stands out from 10. to 12. century, when it was a coronation town of the croatian-hungarian king Koloman in the year 1102..
It had a very stormy past passing through different phases and rulings.
In the 13. and 14. century it was ruled by Cetina knights, Bribir knights - Šubići and Vrana templars and from the beginning of 15. and all the way till the end of 18. century Biograd was under Venetian ruling. Significant war damage in the venetian-turkish had wars weakened Biograd, but it had regained its strength at the beginning of 19. century during french ruling.
During the serbian aggression between 1991-1993 it suffered significant destruction but managed to rise up and become again a famous dalmatian tourist center.

Natural beauties

The town of Biograd is a well known tourist destination today, and thanks to its remarkable position in the middle of the Pašmanski kanal it has developed into a significant nautical center of this part of the Adriatic, and therefore it is a junction of yachtsmen from entire Europe.
The position in the center of croatian coast and within surroundings of 5 National parks ans 2 Nature parks, the proximity of Kornati archipelago and Vrana lake, long term tourist tradition and a rich tourist and sports offer are just some of the reasons to pick Biograd and its surroundings as a destination for an interesting and dynamic vacation.

Sightseeings

Alongside numerous artifacts and proofs of Biograd's stormy past which you can view at the City museum, you are also free to take a look at the remainders of St. John's monastery. Then, there's also the church of St. Anastasia with baroque altars dating back to 1761 and 2 small churches dating back to 1850 - churches of St. Roch and St. Anthony
